Hawkes garage was established in 1928 by Mr. R. Hawkes. He sold all makes of motorcycles to begin with and then added the sale of new Riley, Clyno, Singer and Hillman cars. Mr. Hawkes (Dick) retired at the age of 80 and Hawkes has been run by the present owner, Mr. Roger Dutton, since being purchased in 1967. Roger was a well known racing motorcyclist riding in scrambles in the 1950's. He was Eastern Centre Grass Track Sidecar Champion in 1965 and second in the British Champs the same year. He also rode in the Isle of Man TT races from 1968 to 1978, sidecar races, riding B.S.A., Triumph, B.M.W. and Yamaha outfits. He still has the occasional ride in the pre 65 trials or scrambles demonstrations. Roger is now semi-retired and the business is managed by his two sons, Jason and Jolian.

The family run business is one of the longest serving car dealers in East Anglia and is now selling quality used cars of all makes and models. What we aim to achieve is to be able to supply our customers with high quality vehicles at the lowest prices. What we don't do is pressure you to buy, tie you into unnecessarily long term finance or sell you a car that you don't want. Most of our sales are return customers. This is something we are proud of and wish to retain.

We only sell vehicles that we feel are of a high enough standard. All cars come MOT'd, serviced and valeted to high standards. They are HPI checked and warranted from 3 to 24 months. Generous part exchange allowances are offered and finance facilities are available subject to status. Hawkes is open Monday to Saturday 8.30am to 5.30pm. After hours viewing is welcome by appointment.
